How did you come up with your DJ name?
Hoodii: Short for Hoodie-Ninja, but after that car commercial took off in like 07 I changed it.How long have you been doing music?
Dj for around 15 years, but before
that I played Bass, guitar, piano. I learned to read music at an early age
How would you describe your style/genre?
I play multiple genres in a set.
Right now a lot of Dubstep/Trap and Electro House, but I like to use elements
of hip-hop and turntablism.
What made you decide to start DJing?
Ha-ha
honestly to impress a girl… she came and went, but I really fell in love with
Djing.
What has been one of your greatest accomplishments as an artist?
The relationships
I have made with people are through the music. I’ll have stories for days when
I’m old. I’ll leave it at that :)
What other artist or acts are you associated with?
Poe Mack whenever possible. One of the artists in the area I
have a lot of respect for.
In your opinion what has been the biggest challenge for you?
Since the music I play is not quite mainstream I have to promote and educate at
the same time alot. People aren’t sure what to expect at first, but they always
fall in love with it.
What motivates you to do well?
Other Djs. I’m highly competitive in everything I do. I’m addicted to that
moment when somebody says, “you killed that set” ...It’s my drug …also the
ladies ;)
What made you decide to start putting together the Light up the Night series and how do you go about picking the acts to perform?
The artists that have played so far are people in the area that are consistently
building and really want these events to be a success. My goal has simply been
to bring everyone together under one roof that loves the music. I want everyone
to feel welcome and leave happy.
Any big events or plans for you coming up?
YES ;) …that’s all I’m saying right now.
Do you have a website or way that people can connect with you?
A website will be up after Jan 1st with mixes, Live video feeds and
more …stay tuned
Stay updated with us as we join DJ Hoodii and his line up of DJs for the Light Up the Night Part 3, December 28th at Schooners featuring special guest AK1200.
